Grandpa Pencil's Recipe

Brown Gravy


Brown Gravy


  • 2 tablespoons Plain Flour
  • 1 pinch Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 500ml water or stock


 You will need
A wooden spoon, the drippings from your baking dish or fry pan and a strainer


  • Take most of the fat out of your baking dish or fry pan after cooking your meat
  • Add flour, pepper and salt to the dish or pan
  • Brown while blending over heat with the back of the spoon
  • When brown add cold water or stock all at once
  • Stir until boiling and of your desired consistency
  • Put through a strainer if required
  • Serve over the meat or in a gravy boat
