Orange and Onion Salad


Orange and Onion Salad


The Salad

  • 6 Oranges
  • 2 medium Onions
  • 1 can Sliced Beetroot
  • 1 Lettuce
  • Sugar


  • 120 ml Olive Oil or Salad Oil
  • 60 ml Vinegar
  • 1 clove crushed Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard Powder


 You will need
A large shallow dish, a mixing bowl, a sharp vegetable knife, a cutting board and a strainer


  • Wash, drain and dry required lettuce leaves
  • Carefully peel the oranges and slice into rings
  • Peel the onion and slice thinly
  • Lay out, on the lettuce, a slice of beetroot then a slice of orange then a slice of onion each slightly overlapping and looking attractive.
  • Continue until all have been used.
  • Sprinkle with the sugar
  • In a jug or bottle add all the dressing ingredients and mix well
  • Just prior to serving pour the dressing over your creation
  • Serve at the table in a shallow dish with a serving spoon and fork
